Using their Curwen Hand Signals, each student will sing Solfege exercises in our music classroom. After they sing each exercise correctly, including intonation and correct hand signals, they will be rewarded with a "belt" to recognize their accomplishments and to encourage their continued vocal development.
The Solfege patterns are as follows:
WHITE BELT: SLSM SMSM
YELLOW BELT: SMLSM MRDD
ORANGE BELT: MFSS MFSM
GREEN BELT: SFMD SMSD
PURPLE BELT: SMSD DRMD
BLUE BELT: DRMF SMDM
RED BELT: SMLS SMFR
BROWN BELT: DMRF SMSD
BLACK BELT (Solfege Ladder): DRMFSLTD DTLSFMRD
Advanced Vocal Karate Belts will be earned in conjunction with Recorder Karate.
